A control panel for the PDP-15. The
PDP was a class of "Minicomputers" created by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) from 1959 to 1970. Do not let the term minicomputer confuse you, the computers themselves could still be up to 8 feet tall and cost $250,000 but their mainframe predecessors could take up the size of a room and cost millions of dollars. A operator would use the control panel to interface with the main system behind it.
The lights indicate that it is in ''Read-In" mode meaning that it is ready to receive a set of instructions from a DECtape machine(proprietary magnetic tape) which is not apart of the main console. I found a PDP simulator online which helped me figure out the functions for the lights.
Fun fact: the game "Spacewar" was created on the PDP-1 in 1962 and is considered to be the first video game in history.
